Samagi Janabalawegaya MP Tissa Attanayake had told the media after a ceremony in Nawalapitiya that the country’s political landscape would be turned upside down in the near future.
He emphasized that the country was going through a revolutionary period in politics and that although the people had high hopes to elect the current President and the government, all their hopes had been dashed.
News confirming his statement is now being heard in various parts of the political arena. Especially within the government, MPs and ministers have come to a position which condemn the actions of the government.
Sri Lanka People’s Front Galle District MP Chandima Weerakkody had said in Parliament recently that the motorcade of lower ranking officials serving under the President was longer than the Ruhuna Kumari. He had criticized the Army Commander in that way.
Meanwhile, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera had said that his party MPs and ministers were ready to leave the government even tomorrow if the SLFP Central Committee decides.
At present the people are unhappy with the government over the rising prices of essential food items such as fertilizer, gas, milk powder, kerosene and fuel and the shortage of goods. Minister of State Duminda Dissanayake had recently stated that the people of the country are very helpless due to the fertilizer problem and as a result the people are dissatisfied with the government.
It is no secret that in the wake of antigovernmental rhetoric in the political arena, several senior government officials have resigned due to difficulties in working with the government.
There is one thing that revolves around all these things. That is the downfall of the government.
