Cinnamon Gardens Police today (08) arrested world beauty queen Caroline Jury and model Chula Padmendra for insulting the winner of the Sri Lanka pageant.
Pushpika de Silva was the winner of the Sri Lanka Bridal Beauty Contest held at the Nelum Pokuna Theater in Colombo on the 4th. The ‘National Director’ of the competition is beautician Chandimal Jayasinghe. At the end of the three – month competition, the winner of the 2020 World Wedding Beauty Caroline’s Jury was named the winner.
After the guests left the stage, Caroline took to the stage and claimed that Pushpika was divorced and did not have the crown. Here she was assisted by Chula Pathmendran. They crowned Ayesha and performed on stage in a manner that displeased the onlookers.
Pushpika’s loss of the crown caused a great deal of controversy in the society and she had also lodged a complaint with the Cinnamon Gardens Police.
Accordingly, Caroline Jury and Chula Padmendra were summoned to appear before the Cinnamon Gardens Police today to make a statement regarding the incident. Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that they were arrested after recording their statements while at the police station.
Meanwhile, the organizing committee of the tournament had taken steps to give Pushpika the crown once again.
A special announcement has been issued by the Miss World organization regarding the Caroline jury.
They said that Caroline’s behavior was surprising and that Caroline appeared to have violated the rules of the competition and was being investigated. Caroline is being questioned by the jury over the incident. According to the tournament organizers, there is a possibility that even Caroline’s crown could be lost.
