The Ukrainian parliament passed a new judicial reform bill last Tuesday. These judicial reforms are aimed at eliminating corruption and creating an environment in which the rule of law is more favorable and credible to investors.
The United States and the European Union have long proposed comprehensive judicial reform in Ukraine. Commenting on the judicial reform, the US Embassy in Ukraine announced that it sees the new reforms as “an important step forward for comprehensive judicial reform”.
The President of Ukraine has promised to establish an independent panel of judges, to ensure the fairness of the judiciary and to exclude those accused of corruption. He also said that the bill passed in Parliament will be enacted soon.
