Two days after an interfaith committee headed by prelates called on the President to take steps to bury the bodies of those infected with the virus, there is no scientific basis for the cremation of Covid 19 virus to be burned.
The Inter-Religious Relations Subcommittee of the Sri Lanka Amarapura and Ramanna Samagari Sangha Sabha had in a letter to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on December 26 recommended that burial of virus-infected bodies be allowed using internationally accepted scientific methods.
It also called for the appointment of a committee of geological and epidemiologists, as well as doctors and religious leaders, to decide immediately on the burial of Covid infected bodies.
