The office of the Ministry of Tourism has been removed from WTC

The office of the Ministry of Tourism has been removed from the World Trade Centre (WTC) in Colombo.

The move has been made as per a decision of the Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando.

Minister Fernando said that the Ministry office was located at the WTC for a monthly rent of Rs. 1.8 million.

He said thereby, it has been decided to move it to a state building keeping in mind the country’s economic crisis and to reduce government expenses.

The Minister of Tourism has downsized his office and has moved it into a smaller office at the Old Hotel School in Colombo.

Minister Fernando along with Minister Manusha Nanayakkara announced that they will forgo ministerial perks when they joined the Government.

The Minister also said that his recent overseas tourism promotion meetings were completely done on his private funds as he was there for a close family wedding.

Minister Fernando said that he met tourism stakeholders in London and several other cities, targeting to bring tourists to Sri Lanka during winter.
