Take advantage of the last chance – PAFFREL

PAFFREL urges the public to take advantage of the last opportunity to register as a voter by visiting the Department of Elections (www.slelections.gov.lk) website to check the draft Electoral Registration Bill prepared in connection with the 2020 Electoral Roll Amendment.

After such inspection, if your name is not included or other relevant parts are included in the name, it will be possible to rectify the deficiency by sending it to the election office of the relevant district along with the copies of the verifiable documents and the persons who are not eligible to be included as a voter in the relevant document. PAFFREL says that if the names are included, there is a possibility of protesting against them.

If for any reason the voter counting form (BC Form) has not been completed and handed over so far, a claim form completed by January 19, 2021 should be handed over to the relevant District Elections Office and the relevant Form Officers’ Offices, Divisional Secretariats. PAFFREL emphasizes that this is the last chance to register as a voter and to be active immediately.

He emphasized that the compilation of an all-inclusive Electoral Roll was not the sole responsibility of the Elections Department and that it was the duty and responsibility of all political parties as well as your citizens to provide active support.

The organization further states that in order to take advantage of this great opportunity to exercise the sovereignty of the people enshrined in the Constitution, you must register as a voter and there is no point in complaining that your name is not on the electoral roll in the near future or at any other time.
