Sri Lanka ranks 65th in the Global Hunger Index

Sri Lanka ranks 65th in Global Hunger Index. The annual index includes 116 countries this year.

Countries with the lowest score on the index, which takes into account malnutrition, infant mortality, and low birth weight, are among the least hungry.

Accordingly, the index indicates that Sri Lanka, which scored 16 points this time, is in a moderate position, while last year Sri Lanka was ranked 64th in the index.

Eighteen countries, including China, Brazil, Kuwait, Cuba and Turkey, topped the index with less than five points.

Compared to Sri Lanka, the rest of South Asia ranks high in the Hunger Index, while India ranks 101st in the Risk Index. India was ranked 94th in the index last year.

Burundi, the Comoros, South Sudan, Syria and Somalia are the countries with the highest hunger.
