Rear Admiral Dr. Sarath Weerasekera, Minister of Public Defence says that there is no country like Sri Lanka where people are getting insulted on social media.
Minister said, during his tenure as the head of the Civil Defence Department, he formed small group of people to protect threatened villages and gave them a commando training. One day when they were running in the field, a person who was there asked that, do they train to flee when the terrorists attacked the village. Those who have such attitudes are asking whether these three wheelers are being brought to curb the underworld.
The Minister said that the three-wheelers were given to the police to carry out their normal daily duties such as handing over summons, going to investigate complaints, transferring officers working at police checkpoints, delivering food to those officers and obtaining intelligence information. The Minister of Public Defence, Rear Admiral Dr. Sarath Weerasekera further stated that although the general public is aware of this, some people knowingly insulting and it is an immoral act.
He was speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for the Ornamental Floriculture and Related Products Marketing Complex under the Vistas for Prosperity Program.
