Prohibited 11 fundamental rights petitions seeking an order invalidating the gazette notification on the cremation of corpses infected with the virus by Supreme court.
The petitions were heard by a three-judge comprising Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Murdu Fernando and Preethi Padman Surasena on Monday, November 30 and Tuesday, December 1.
Announcing the verdict after considering the petitions, Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya has stated in open court that all the petitions will be rejected with the consent of the majority of the three-judge bench.
