According to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights signed by Sri Lanka, we have signed that a person who has committed a criminal offense can appeal against his sentence, so MP Ranjan Ramanayake should have the right to appeal against his sentence. He pointed out that the law in the country regarding contempt of court also conflicts with the principles of criminal law and said that Parliament should intervene to change this.
