People in Mullaitivu staged a protest yesterday (11) demanding the government to bring down the prices of essential commodities which are rising unbearably.
Protest marchers from Puthukudiyiruppu to the Pradeshiya Sabha, with the participation of local politicians, demanded that the government immediately reduce the prices of essential commodities and provide relief to the people. They have stressed that their livelihood is in dire straits as the prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed.
Protesters who displayed banners and placards were also brought a cart loaded with empty gas cylinders to the protest. At the end of the protest they handed over a letter containing their demands to the Chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabha. Shops in Puthukudiirippu were also closed in support of the protest.
