It is reported that several power plants in the island have become inactive due to various reasons, when the government advertises to extinguish even one lamp to recover from the power crisis in the country.
Accordingly, the Kerawalapitiya West Coast Power Plant was shut down last night due to a technical fault and has not yet been able to connect to the national grid.
The Kelanitissa Sojitz Power Plant also broke down overnight and has now been repaired and re-added to the system.
Sources inside the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) say that the Thulhiriya Power Plant has been shut down since last night due to a shortage of fuel.
