The United States is deeply concerned about the harassment and intimidation face by foreign journalists who provide media coverage over recent floods in Henan, People’s Republic of China and the devastation and loss of life caused it. The United States says that, “if the People’s Republic of China stated that they warmly welcomes foreign media and supports their work, but they really act differently.
The official website of the United States of America states that, they promote negative public sentiment, unrest, conflict and violence through the official state media. Further they promote online verbal abuses and death threats to the journalists who publish any news that criticize Chinese government.
Strict restrictions on the quantity and quality of independent reporting on employment and important issues have led foreign journalists to increasingly refuse entry or stay visa to China. The United States urges China to act as a responsible nation, hoping to receive foreign media recognition for the upcoming Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympics Games.
