A fire occurred in the Superior Court Complex in Colombo at around 4.30 pm yesterday (15). As the black smoke spread across the Colombo sky, many in the country were alarmed that its archives had caught fire. The fire was put out a few hours after the arrival of the Sri Lanka Air Force and the Fire Brigade.
The Chief Justice, the Attorney General and a number of senior police officials then proceeded to inspect the Supreme Court complex. It was revealed that the fire did not cause any damage to the archives or any other property.
