There is a team working to save the lives of patients during the epidemic. That is the health staff, including doctors and nurses. Perhaps during past days, they did not even have enough time to freedom to eat a meal or make a phone call home. Still the same.
The service has received from them since the first wave is very appreciative. Commitment is immeasurable. Due to this, President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had taken steps to provide a special package to the health staff at the end of the first wave of Covid. To stay and relax with the family for a few days in a luxury hotel.
While the program was in progress, once again had to face the second wave, and again they became mechanical men. Sometimes by doing several shifts in a row they have to hide it even when they are severely distressed and have to work for the patients. There is no one to tell them some of the inconveniences of doing this work, especially in protective clothing.
Currently, health workers are also rapidly becoming infected with the Covid virus.
In such background, a special series of instructions had been issued to the Heads of All Health Institutions island wide under the headline “Employing Nursing Staff on the Covid 19 Condition” in the letter No. 02/10/2020 dated 22.202020. .
Its objective was to provide a continuous health service to the people by deploying the nursing staff safely in the face of the Covid epidemic which was already spreading rapidly throughout the country and by summoning only the essential nursing staff.
According to the instructions, nurses were deployed in hospitals and other health institutions island wide. It largely helped to protect the nursing staff from becoming infected with the corona epidemic.
However, there is still a growing corona epidemic throughout the island. A large number of corona patients are being reported daily from a number of districts including the Western Province. Health care staff members are also reported to be infected with corona, despite being treated in the middle of a safe procedure.
As such, it is reported that the hospital administration is working to stop the above series of instructions given to the nursing staff in the event of a corona epidemic from January 2021 and to employ nurses as usual. The most serious issue here is to stop the Rostar Basis that was being implemented for the nursing staff even in the midst of obstacles.
Health and Indigenous Medicine Services A letter has been sent to the Secretary of the Ministry.
They urge the Secretary to the Ministry of Health to pay close attention to this matter and not to allow various individuals to withdraw the measures taken for the protection of the nursing staff who are working tirelessly to control the corona epidemic.
