Non-implementation of law is a problem – Ceylon Teachers Union

According to the transfer order of the Secretary of Education, HG who was transferred from St. Paul’s Girls’ College, Colombo to Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo. The Ceylon Teachers’ Union (CTU) has strongly condemned the incident in which the principal of Visakha Vidyalaya insulted and threatened Mr. Wasantha and tried to get him out of the school by the school security guards.

The principal of Visakha Vidyalaya has also severely reprimanded her for mentioning the name of the teacher transfer director and the Ceylon Teachers’ Union points out that the Ministry of Education has taken any action despite various complaints regarding her arbitrary actions.

The Public Service Commission has issued a charge sheet on 15.09.2019 containing 15 allegations of misconduct regarding the admission of children to the first grade of Visakha College, 2019. The disciplinary inquiry into the matter has not been completed yet and she has been informed about the admission of children. Despite the allegations, the Ceylon Teachers Union had complained to the Secretary of Education and the Secretary of the Public Service Commission that she should not be included in the process of admitting children to 2021. The Ceylon Teachers’ Union states that the Public Service Commission had sent a letter dated 07.07.2020 with the number ESC / GEN / 01/09/2019 to the Secretary of Education requesting the Secretary of Education to take action in this regard but no action has been taken in this regard so far.

It is a matter of concern that this principal working under the Ministry of Education has been appointed as a member of the Presidential Task Force on Education in Sri Lanka appointed by the President through Gazette Notification No. 2169/2 despite a charge sheet and acting in such an arbitrary manner. Emphasizes.
