The National Child Protection Authority has initiated an investigation into the alleged incident where Police had treated a child in an inhumane manner during a protest held at Galle Face on 9th of October.
Its Chairman, Udaya Kumara Amarasena mentioned that several parties have filed complaints against the Police and the parents of the child in question.
Accordingly, he stated that the complaints received against the Police were forwarded to the Inspector General of Police for further investigation.
The Chairman stated that he has also sought further clarification from the Fort Police regarding the actions of the officers present at the time of the incident.
