Microfinance victims are temporarily retreating due to the situation in the country…

The Sathyagraha carried out by the victims of microfinance in front of the Hingurakgoda Rajasabha monument for 55 days has been suspended due to the Kovid 19 epidemic situation in the country yesterday (1).

Until yesterday (01) no relevant authority had paid attention to this satyagraha which started on March 08.

Convener of the meeting, Kaudulle Jayatissa, the convener of the women’s group affected by the micro finance loan, said that the satyagraha would be resumed as soon as the epidemic was over.

Announcing the suspension of Sathyagraha, a group of women affected by microfinance loans say they are working to revive the economy through a self-help cooperative finance system and that politicians can no longer be fooled.

The statement also said that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the government were strongly opposed to allowing financial institutions to rob people arbitrarily by neglecting their responsibilities.
