Colombo Municipal Councillor Mahinda Kahandagama has surrendered to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today.

Kahandagama was named as a suspect in the attacks on anti-government protesters in Colombo on May 09.

He was named as a suspect in the case alongside former Minister Johnston Fernando and two others.

They were named as suspects in the case after the Attorney General had yesterday informed the Fort Magistrate’s Court in this regard.

Following this, Mahinda Kahandagama has surrendered to the CID today.

Kahandagama, Johnston Fernando, and several other Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) politicos and loyalists have been accused of allegedly instigating the attacks on peaceful protesters.
