Health sector panicked – Government Medical Officers’ Association

Gayan Danthanarayana, a pediatrician at the Ragama Teaching Hospital, was the first doctor who died from the Covid 19 epidemic yesterday (02).

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) points out that the authorities should intervene effectively to prevent deaths such as the death of Dr. Gayan Dantanarayana as well as other deaths in the future.

At a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday (02) the editor of the association Dr. Haritha Aluthge said that the public in particular should be properly communicated about the risks.

“Thousands of health professionals across the country have died, but Gayan’s death has come as a shock to health professionals, even as the death toll in our country low,” he said.
