Gazette issued setting maximum retail prices for rice and sugar

Two gazette notifications were issued at midnight yesterday (02) setting maximum retail prices for rice and sugar which are rising rapidly, Retired Major General Shantha Dissanayake, Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority.

Accordingly, Gazette No. 2243/13, the maximum retail price of a kilo of white sugar is 122 rupees and the maximum retail price of a kilo of packaged white sugar is 125 rupees. The maximum wholesale price of a kilo of white sugar to be sold by the importer is 116 rupees. The maximum retail price of a kilo of brown or red sugar is 125 rupees and the maximum retail price of a kilo of packaged brown or red sugar is 128 rupees.

Meanwhile, according to Gazette 2243/14, the maximum retail price for a kilo of white and red raw material is Rs95 and the maximum retail price for a kilo of white and red Naadu is Rs.98 . The maximum retail price of a kilo of white and red Samba is 103 rupees and a maximum of 125 rupees per kilo of Keeri samba.

Relevant gazette notifications have been issued with effect from 02nd September.
