The current Chairman of the Urban Development Authority (UDA) under the State Ministry of Urban Development is Architect U.D. Harshan de Silva. A plan is underway to dismiss him from the post and appoint Major General (retd) Udaya Nanayakkara as the Chairman of the Urban Development Authority (UDA).
Harshan de Silva has been accused of not carrying out certain duties assigned to him by the Presidential Secretariat. Accordingly, it is said that steps are being taken to dismiss him from the post.
Major General (Retd.) Udaya Nanayakkara is currently the Director General of the Urban Settlement Development Authority.
Meanwhile, a new General Manager was appointed to the Government Printing Corporation under the Ministry of Mass Media and Information on the 9th July. Newly appointed general manager is Major General Nishantha Wanniarachchi.
Maj. Gen. Nishantha Wanniarachchi commanding the Wanni Task Force. He was an officer in the Artillery Regiment.
Also, a former Army Chief, Retired Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe
was recently appointed as the Chairman of the Foreign Employment Bureau.
Accordingly, many institutions are currently chaired by former Army Chiefs.
