Every Tamil Parliament Members should vote against the 20th Amendment to the Constitution…

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP MA Sumanthiran says that every Tamil Member of Parliament should vote against the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

He was speaking at a conference on the 20th Amendment and Political Consequences at Weerasingam Hall in Jaffna yesterday (04).

He further said,

“The Twentieth Amendment is an amendment to the monarchy in the name of the Republican Constitution.

Earlier, when the 18th Amendment was introduced, the person in power was a politician. He has abused his power but a politician has some explanations. The nature of how certain things can and cannot be experienced. That is not the case today.

There is a difference between repealing the Nineteenth Amendment and strengthening the executive. The natives are in fierce opposition.

We must strongly oppose this. Dealing with the progressive forces in the country. Every Tamil Member of Parliament should vote for it.
