Epidemic Division should reveal accurate official data to the country! – GMOA

Dr. Samantha Ananda, Media Spokesman of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) said that the increase in the number of patients and complications has had a severe impact on the number of patients and the number of patients reported daily in the country.

He said that some hospitals were having difficulty in accepting patients and that there was a crisis in the beds in the intensive care units due to complications.

Mr. Ananda also said that there has been a severe delay in sending Kovid patients to hospitals across Sri Lanka due to interpersonal problems, problems with ambulances and problems in hospital beds.

He said that due to the delay in getting patients to the hospital, there is a possibility that the disease could spread further and the number of deaths could increase due to the increase in their complications.

He emphasized that if these issues were not addressed properly, what happened to India could happen to Sri Lanka as well.

“Delay is closely linked to Kovid’s disease and if the decisions we make are delayed, we will move towards India, so decisions need to be made without delay,” he said.

He said that the Epidemiology Division of the Ministry of Health was primarily responsible for Kovid’s disease, adding that there was an urgent need to share the data collected by the Epidemiology Unit with other sectors, but it was a problem that it did not happen.
