Easter attack ”Next is MP Nalin Bandara

Nearly two years after the Easter Sunday bombings, there is still heated debate. The Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the attack has now released its report. The Minister of Public Security also made a special statement in Parliament recently regarding the police investigations into the incident. The cardinals also unanimously demanded that those responsible for the attack be punished and that justice be done to the victims.

Against this backdrop, the topic of the Easter series of attacks has become a hot topic in the political arena. There they are blaming each other. Due to these Easter stories, the workload of the police has increased. This is due to the fact that investigations have to be carried out due to the statements that are constantly linking each other’s names.

Recently, former Minister Ashok Abeysinghe was brought to the CID due to a statement he made. The President, Basil Rajapaksa and Nissanka Senadhipathi were said to be involved in the Easter attack.

He went to the CID and gave a statement for hours. Meanwhile, former Governor Azad Sally was arrested for talking about Sharia law. It was due to a complaint lodged by a group of parliamentarians of the National Freedom Front.

Minister Wimal Weerawansa had also lodged a complaint with the police alleging that he had engaged in telephone conversations with Saharan Hashim, the brother of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen during the Easter attack. The court had issued an enjoining order on Minister Wimal Weerawansa and three media institutions last week.

The latest name associated with this series of Easter attacks is the name of the current Director of State Intelligence, Major General Suresh Sale.

Samagi Jana Balawege MP Nalin Bandara had stated on the 17th that there was a connection between Saharan Hashim and the Director of State Intelligence, Major General Suresh Sale, who carried out the bombing on Easter Sunday.

The Director of State Intelligence Major General Suresh Sale has lodged a written complaint with the CID in this regard.

He said that he had met Saharan Hashim in Malaysia who was involved in the Easter attack and that he had assisted Saharan to travel to several countries including India. He also said that MP Nalin Bandara had made false statements to the media stating that the Presidential Commission investigating the Easter attack had not taken evidence from him.

The head of the State Intelligence Service, Major General Suresh Sale, appeared before the CID yesterday (19) and stated that all these facts were untrue and that he had never met Saharan Hashim and had not supported him.

Also, the statement made by the Chief of the State Intelligence, Major Suresh Sale, that he had given evidence before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter attack on three occasions and that he had stalled during a course in India was false, said the Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG. The CID has appointed a team led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police to investigate the complaint and statement made by the Chief of State Intelligence.
