Drugs will not be available in pharmacies from today

With the Central Bank’s decision to float the rupee, drug importers have temporarily stopped issuing drugs to pharmacies, media reports said.

It is learned that around 4000 pharmacies are not getting the required medicines and it is reported that the drug importers have requested the Minister of State for Drug Supply and Manufacturing Prof. Channa Jayasumana to give them an opportunity to increase the prices of medicines immediately.

It is learned that the Board of Pharmaceutical Importers will hold discussions with the State Minister today (9) and after raising the prices of the drugs they are requesting, so the price control imposed on 75 types of drugs should be removed. Accordingly, the dollar crisis will eventually make the lives of ordinary people even more difficult.

A large number of these imported drugs are for non-communicable diseases and if this condition continues unresolved, many lives will be in danger.
