Former Prime Minister and UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that Sri Lanka is not a mountain to sacrifice its lives for the sake of the economy.
He said that the Sri Lankan rupee had depreciated due to the printing of money by the Central Bank and that at present the President and the Cabinet should take the powers vested in them by the Constitution and make necessary plans to control the spread of the disease.
He made this statement while making a statement through video technology.
He further stated,
The people of this country need 30 million Kovid vaccines. It is difficult to bring down that number of vaccines this year. Therefore, there is a need to think anew and formulate a new program for the Kovid regime.
People who receive the first dose of AstraZeneca should be given the second dose. However, the government should take action to bring the vaccine to the people as there is a shortage of it. The government and another section are trying to bring in the required number of vaccines. Although the government continues to vaccinate, not all citizens will be able to complete the vaccination this year. Therefore, the first thing to do is to seek medical advice to control the further spread of the virus. The best thing to do here is to seek medical advice.
If $ 200 million had been invested in the vaccine last November, there would not have been a vaccination problem in this country. The virus spread further as Indian tourists were brought to the country thinking only of foreign exchange. Today we see that the existing Covid governing committees cannot do these things. If you want to close the country, close the country and give relief to the people who need relief. The President and the Cabinet should take the powers vested in them by the Constitution and make necessary plans to control the spread of the disease.
Do not degrade the cabinet. We will take the necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of the country. In doing so, take the necessary steps to save the country and the nation.
