The Chief Judicial Medical Officer’s Office at the Colombo National Hospital is in a serious condition and 16 bodies infected with Covid 19 have been piled up.
Although Covid 19 infected person should have been cremated safely within 24 hours of his death, 16 bodies that could not be cremated have been piled up in the morgue of the Colombo Chief Judicial Medical Officer’s Office.
Five bodies were found in Maligawatte, three in Maradana, three in Grandpass, two in Slave Island, one each in Modara, Dematagoda and Gothatuwa. Of these, 14 are males.
Relatives of some of the victims objected to the cremation and refused to accept the bodies.
There are about 20 freezer facilities here and 16 of these bodies are buried there. Only four more bodies are likely. As a result, its health workers have been severely inconvenienced.
