Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara was the Director of the Medical Research Institute, Borella when the Covid 19 virus spread in Sri Lanka at the first time. He was constantly trying to aware the public not only about the Covid virus but also about other diseases.
He revealed following information in an interview conducted by Asian Mirror.
However, the media reported on the 6th that he had been removed from the post of Director and appointed as its Deputy Director to his post and further stated that he was appointed as the Deputy Director.
In this regard, Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara says that he worked harder and because he made sacrifices to prevent the spread of corona virus.
He further stated that he had rejected the proposals made by some private officials in the Ministry of Health and would not be re-appointed.
He also said that circulars have been issued to him to refrain from making statements to the media.
He points out that people should be more careful about Covid infection. he says that if care is not taken, there is a possibility of daily reports of infections like India in the future.
