Although two weeks have passed since the President was informed about the laboratory crisis, a proper answer has not yet been received, says Ravi Kumudesh of the Medical Laboratory Professionals Association.
Many of the analytical machines provided by the Ministry of Health are currently inoperable due to non-delivery of the relevant reagents, lack of sensitive reactions, inability to operate the essential machinery and failure of the laboratory due to inability to deliver tests. He points out that two weeks have passed since the President was asked to appoint an all-party technical committee to maintain the laboratory service, which is facing a serious crisis due to the lack of attention paid to requirements such as overtime services, but there has been no response.
Ravi Kumudesh points out that three out of four variants of the Variant of Concern (VoC) species that are of special interest are prevalent in our country, but there is still only one genetic sequencing machine in the country that can identify genetic sequencing. In the current, less sensitive traditional PCR system, it is almost impossible to deal with that situation.
Also, due to the failure and systematization of the genetic identification process, the fate of the country due to the infiltration of the genus into the country as well as the genus in the United Kingdom should not be exaggerated. He also alleges that he appears to be interested in stockpiling test kits.
He said the Ministry of Health had repeatedly stated that it was storing 20 million PCR test kits, but had not made any inquiries from the medical laboratory scientists who use the test kits or about the required PCR kits.
He further emphasized that in the event of a crisis in the laboratory service in the future, the relevant authorities should take responsibility for it.
