We, the ‘Journalists for the Rights’ vehemently protest and condemn with contempt the attack on journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrema’s house in Piliyandala this morning (14) by armed thugs.
We emphasize that the right to freedom of expression and expression is an inalienable right of all. No matter what the obstacles are, journalists must take the truth to the citizen based on media ethics. If any person, party or group opposes it, the media community should oppose it. Must fight. At this juncture, the media associations must set aside narrow politics and unite to fight this new situation. It must be said that we ‘journalists for rights’ are always ready for that.
We, the ‘Journalists for Rights’, urge the Media Minister and the Government to pay close attention to this heinous attack and to conduct an impartial and fair investigation into this attack.
