According to the Ceylon Teachers Union, the Auditor General has submitted the report for the financial year 2019 to the Speaker on October 29, 2020.

Joseph Stalin, General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union says that the audit report has raised a number of serious issues regarding the Ministry of Education.

Although the Parliament had allocated Rs. 325,397.60 million for that year to achieve the objectives of education, only Rs. 235,097.00 million had been utilized, he said, adding that 27.75% isn’t used.

The Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) said in a statement on Tuesday, December 29, that the National Education Commission had made recommendations for education in 2003 and 2016, but had not yet formulated a definite National Education Policy by the end of 2019.
