Another contract was given to a private company to supply one lakh of covid safety suits that were not fit to be used.
This contract has been given by the State Ministry of Pharmaceutical Products Supply and Regulation. Corona clothing provided to health workers must be of a high standard and resistant to the virus. The standard protective suit comes with sterile gloves, a KN95 face mask and a quality body cover.
However, the staff of hospitals all over the country, including doctors, has informed the division that the wardrobe provided by this company is unfit for use.
It is also noteworthy that these kits have been approved by the Technical Evaluation Committee of the State Ministry of Drug Regulation and Supply. It has been revealed that PPE garments supplied by two of the companies that are currently registered to supply with the Medical Supplies Division are of very substandard quality.
The Medical Supplies Division agrees with the decision of the company, which has stated in writing that it will not provide the essential surgical gloves for the Corona wardrobe and will replace the surgical gloves with regular gloves.
More than 12,000 safety suits are required for daily use in hospitals islandwide. Nearly 2,000 health workers across the country, including doctors, have been infected with the corona virus. In such a background substandard products are being given to the health sector.
