An inmate who was sent to quarantine at the Angunakolapelessa Prison has hanged himself inside the prison last 29.
The deceased has been identified as a 20 year old resident of Polpitiya, Thudawa, Matara.
While he was being held at the Matara Prison in connection with a heroin possession incident, he was sent to the Angunakolapelessa Prison for quarantine and it is reported that he had strangled himself with the sarong he was wearing there.
The body of the deceased prisoner has been placed at the Angunakolapelessa Hospital and the magisterial inquest and postmortem examination were held 30.
