Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the issues of the Tamil people will definitely be covered in the forthcoming draft constitution.
A meeting between Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and TNA Jaffna District Parliamentarian and President’s Counsel MA Sumanthiran was held in Colombo on Tuesday.
It is reported that mutual discussions were held regarding the activities for the new constitution.
In particular, Sumanthiran emphasized that if all the TNA representatives, including himself, were to draft a new constitution, it would include a solution to all the problems of the Tamil people.
In response, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa said, “We are very keen to draft a new constitution. He also said that the new constitution would inevitably cover the issues of the Tamil people.
Meanwhile, Tamil political sources say that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has expressed his aspirations to Sumanthiran regarding the role of the Tamil party in the process of drafting a new constitution.
