AG directs IGP to arrest 22 SLPP activists including MPs

The Attorney General has directed the IGP and DIG in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to arrest 22 Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) activists and members, including MPs Johnston Fernando, Sanath Nishantha, Sanjeewa Edirimanna, and Milan Jayathilake over the attack on peaceful protestors near the Temple Trees and at the Galle Face Green in Colombo on 9th May.

According to the Lankadeepa Newspaper, the AG has instructed the Police to arrest these individuals and produce them in court if sufficient evidence available.

Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon is also among the individuals directed to be arrested, the Lankadeepa report added. (NewsWire)
