The government has taken steps to amend the Registration and Supervision of Voluntary Social Service Organizations Act.
The Government has stated that the provisions of the existing Voluntary Social Service Organizations (Registration and Supervision) Act No. 31 in 1980 for the registration of voluntary organizations have not been found to be adequate for the present requirements.
Accordingly, The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to give instructions on Monday (August 09)in view of the proposal made to the Cabinet by the Minister of Presidential Defense, a Bill was drafted to replace the Voluntary Social Service Organizations (Registration and Supervision) Act No. 31 of 1980 with a new Act that address the present needs.
