The Bar Association of Sri Lanka has sent a letter to Attorney General Dappulada Livera regarding the assault on a law student by its officers at the Peliyagoda Police Station.
The letter states that it is not sufficient to conduct a disciplinary inquiry or suspend the police officers for inhumanely assaulting the student.
The Bar Association of Sri Lanka has requested that strict legal action be taken against the police officers involved in the incident.
The decision of the Attorney General to call a B report on this incident has also been appreciated in the letter sent by the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, Kalinga Indatissa.
The Bar Association has written to the Attorney General requesting that the accused police officers be treated as suspects and that necessary legal action be taken immediately.
