A cut of Rs 4 billion from the money allocated for education on budget…

Teachers ‘unions in the country has condemned the disappointing budget of the Teachers’ Principals and pointed out the need to embark on a trade union action, pointing out that the expenditure on education next year has been slashed by more than Rs. 4 billion compared to last year.

The Ceylon Teachers Union (CTU) says that Rs. 126 billion has been allocated for the education sector from the budget presented by the Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in Parliament on November 17 next year. The amount allocated for education in 2019 is Rs. 167 billion.
