The health guidelines were relaxed from yesterday (31) to allow the country to function normally from today by removing the country’s travel restrictions.
Accordingly, the government stated that the train service as well as the passenger bus service will be regularized from today.
However, due to a failure of train signals from Veyangoda to Maradana this morning (01), all trains arriving in Colombo from the upper railway line were delayed by several hours. As a result, many people who went to work were in great difficulty.
Many people came to travel by office train today. Due to the signal failure, having to stay close to each other on the train for hours without even a meter of distance was a health hazard to the passengers.
Passenger buses arriving in Colombo were also severely congested at the entrance to the Peliyagoda-Kandy road, causing severe inconvenience to passengers.
Due to such trivialities, the re-emergence of train and bus corona clusters is inevitable.
