With the control of the corona epidemic, the Ministry of Education has decided to open schools with less than 200 students from the 21st and to open all schools in four phases. The principals and deputy principals of all the three Zonal Education Areas in the Polonnaruwa District have been informed in writing that they will not report for their duties until the salary anomaly is resolved.
The principals of 104 schools in the Dimbulagala Education Zone handed over a memorandum with their signatures to the Zonal Education Office on last week (06) regarding the trade union action. Also, the principals and deputy principals of 55 schools in the Polonnaruwa zone informed the Zonal Director of Education about their trade union action with their signatures yesterday (11).
A representative of 103 schools in the Hingurakgoda Education Zone said that the union would continue to implement this trade union action program and that they would be informed in writing within the next two days. Meanwhile, they are requesting the authorities to take steps to eliminate the salary anomaly of teachers and principals and reopen schools.
The Zonal Education Offices confirmed that the principals of schools in the Dimbulagala and Polonnaruwa Education Zones had given the written message to the Zonal Offices and that steps had been taken to inform the higher officials in this regard.
