The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) points out that children are more likely to be abused at home and urges all citizens to work together to protect children from all forms of abuse and to ensure a secure future for them.
The Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority Prof. Muditha Vidanapathirana has made this request in a special message issued on the occasion of the National Day Against Child Abuse.
The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has declared January 4 of each year as the National Day Against Child Abuse with the aim of taking action against child abuse as well as safeguarding the rights of children and creating a child-friendly environment.
According to the authority, this is the 13th National Day Against Child Abuse, which began in 2009.
In his announcement, the Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority pointed out that parents are the key people who can lead the lives of children for the better.
“It is also the responsibility of all adults in society to secure the future of the children who will take over the world.”
Prof. Muditha Vidanapathirana points out that according to research conducted around the world, children are more likely to be abused in their own homes, which is a growing trend today.
He further points out that such child abuse leads to disruption of children’s education and deterioration of their personality due to deterioration in their health and mental condition.
“They can become harmful people in a society that suffers from the cruelty of hating the society they passed through. Therefore, as adults, we must be responsible for caring for the children of our society and living by their example. ”
The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) says that the results of lovingly convincing a child of wrongdoing are more effective than physically punishing the wrongdoing of a child.
“What we need to do is educate the child to correct and guide them.”
Prof. Mulitha Vidanapathirana urges the people of the country to break free from the notion of “my child” and to come to the mindset of “our children”, especially as adults, making sure that decisions are made with respect to the ideas of children.
The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) urges all parties to work together to protect the children of the nation from all forms of abuse, including child abuse, and to ensure that they inherit a safer future. To unite to make their world better and to create a society that is proud of its future citizens with good personalities.
